The African Centre for Cities is in the process of strengthening its humanities focus. The purpose of this endeavour is to draw together an intellectual community dealing with urban humanities across the global South.
The ACC hosted the third meeting of the Urban Violence, Safety and Governance CityLab on June 26, 2014. The meeting focussed on the theme, ‘Integrated, Participatory Upgrading – Knowledge, Policy and Practice.’
The Urban Violence, Safety and Governance project, coordinated by Dr Mercy Brown-Luthango, forms part of the CityLab Programme. Since 2014, ACC researchers have been working with various stakeholders in assessing upgrading projects undertaken in three informal settlements in Cape Town.
